We exist to help Barbadians better understand how their system of government works, what citizenship truly means, and how democratic institutions are intended to function in practice. Our focus is education, not persuasion — knowledge, not political allegiance.
Too often, citizens are expected to participate in democracy without clear, accessible explanations of Parliament, elections, the Constitution, or the roles of public officials. The Barbados Civic Institute seeks to close that gap by explaining these topics in plain language, grounded in facts and public law.
We do not endorse political parties, candidates, or policies. Instead, we provide civic education that empowers individuals to think critically, ask informed questions, and engage responsibly in public life.
